MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's soccer team continues Horizon League play this Saturday, September 20, when they welcome Northern Kentucky to the North Athletic Complex for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff. Live stats will be available for the match.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials (3-1-2, 1-0 #HLMSOC) enter the weekend coming off a statement 4-0 victory over Detroit Mercy. Senior captain
Fabian Overkamp led the way with two goals and an assist, a performance that earned him both Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honors and a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week. Freshman
Royie Rahamim added a goal and an assist, while
Jaxson Lee recorded two assists.
Anass Hadran scored his first of the year, with
Jack Bejarano and
Matthew Eckersall also chipping in assists. In goal,
Josh Lane made five saves before handing duties to
Kieran Gorgenyi, who recorded one in his season debut.
Through six matches, Rahamim has totaled four goals and an assist, ranking second in the Horizon League in goals and tied for third in points (9). Hadran, Lee, Bejarano, and
Kevin Gorbell share the team lead with two assists apiece. Gorbell also leads all RMU field players in minutes played (515). Between the posts, Lane has started every game, earning three wins, three shutouts, and 21 saves.
CONFERENCE SUCCESS AT THE NAC
The Colonials have been dominant at the North Athletic Complex in Horizon League play, going unbeaten in their last six home conference matches (4-0-2) dating back to last season. During that stretch, RMU has outscored opponents 14-2 and posted four shutouts.
ALL-TIME VS. NORTHERN KENTUCKY
RMU holds a 3-2-1 advantage in the all-time series with the Norse and carries a four-game unbeaten streak into Saturday's matchup. Last year's meeting ended in a scoreless draw, with Lane making three saves. RMU earned 2-1 wins in each of the previous two seasons, with Hadran scoring in 2023 and
Victor Koah registering an assist in 2022.
SCOUTING THE NORSE
NKU (2-3-1, 0-1 #HLMSOC) dropped its conference opener last week against Green Bay, 1-0. The Norse picked up non-conference victories over Union Commonwealth and Western Illinois, while falling to Bellarmine and No. 21 Akron, and drawing Belmont.
Junior Ali Taleb leads NKU with two goals, while Ibrahim Piracha and Jason Purks have tallied one assist apiece. Goalkeeper Alex Kron has started all six matches, collecting two wins, one shutout, and 14 saves.
Last season, the Norse finished 3-6-7 overall and 2-3-4 in Horizon League action.
