MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU men's soccer goalkeeper
Josh Lane has been named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today, after anchoring the Colonials to a result on the road at Purdue Fort Wayne.
Lane turned aside all five shots he faced to preserve a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against the first-place Mastodons. It marked his fourth shutout of the 2025 campaign and the 11th of his career.
The veteran netminder currently sits tied for first in the conference in clean sheets (4) while ranking fifth in save percentage (.778). This marks his first career weekly honor from the Horizon League. Last season, Lane earned national recognition by being named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week after posting back-to-back shutouts during the conference tournament.
Lane becomes the second Colonial to be recognized by the Horizon League this season, joining defender
Fabian Overkamp, who earned the same honor earlier in September.
With the result, RMU is now 3-1-4 overall and 1-0-2 in Horizon League action. The Colonials now turn their attention to a non-conference test on the road at Penn State, with kickoff set for Tuesday, September 30 at 7:00 PM in University Park, Pa.
