MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU men's hockey alum Justin Addamo has officially been named to Team France's roster for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, marking a historic milestone for both Addamo and the Robert Morris men's hockey program.
With his selection, Addamo becomes just the second former Colonial to represent his country on the Olympic stage, following Daniel Mantenuto, who recently earned a spot on Team Italy's roster for the 2026 Games.
Addamo played three collegiate seasons with the Colonials from 2018 to 2021, appearing in 96 career games. During his RMU tenure, he recorded 24 goals, 27 assists and 51 points. Notably, Addamo spent his first two collegiate seasons skating alongside Mantenuto, making their shared Olympic achievement even more significant.
Following his collegiate career, Addamo transitioned to the professional ranks, beginning with two seasons in the ECHL. He captained the Wheeling Nailers, the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and emerged as one of the league's most productive forwards. Across 77 games with Wheeling, Addamo totaled 34 goals, 33 assists, and 77 points.
His strong play earned him a call-up to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, where he appeared in 35 games and tallied seven goals and two assists at the AHL level.
Addamo later took his professional career overseas, joining HC Oceláři Třinec in the Czech Republic for the 2024–25 season. In 27 games, he contributed four goals and five assists while competing in one of Europe's top professional leagues.
He currently plays for Jukurit in Finland's Liiga, where he has posted three goals and seven assists through 33 contests so far this season.
On the international stage, Addamo has become a key contributor for Team France. He represented his home country at the 2024 IIHF World Championships, where he led France in scoring with two goals and one assist in five games. Overall, Addamo has appeared in 32 games across various international tournaments for Team France, recording seven goals and one assist.
The 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be held in Milano Cortina, Italy, marking the first time the Olympics have been hosted there since 2006. The men's ice hockey tournament will carry added significance, as it will be the first Olympic Games in 12 years to feature National Hockey League (NHL) players, elevating the level of competition and global attention.
The men's ice hockey tournament is scheduled to begin on February 11, 2026, with the gold medal game set for February 22.
"We are all incredibly proud and excited for Justin on this accomplishment," said RMU men's hockey head coach
Derek Schooley. "To see another former Colonial reach the Olympic Games is a testament to his dedication to the game. He was a terrific player for us and has continued to represent his country while also representing RMU on a national stage. We'll all be rooting for him in the Olympics."
