RMU Set for Saturday Morning Home Clash with Northern Kentucky

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team welcomes the Northern Kentucky Norse to the UPMC Events Center on Saturday morning for the second meeting of the season between the pair. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Live stats will also be available on SIDEARM.
 
RMU LATELY
The Colonials (11-4, 4-2 HL) picked up a key win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday night, beating the Mastodons 74-64 in Moon. RMU's offense was hot in the win, going 27-for-54 from the floor to shoot 50% on the night, along with 50% shooting from deep (9-for-18). The duo of Aislin Malcolm and Myriam Traore combined for 37 of the Colonials' 74 points. Malcolm had 20 points to lead all scorers while Traore tied a career-high 17 points. The pair also combined for six of the team's nine made three-point baskets, with the Colonials going 9-for-18 from three. Eva Levingston was the third Colonial to score in double-digits, with Levingston picking up 10 on the night. Levingston, along with Jada Lee, led RMU on the glass with both pulling down six rebounds. Lee also had a game-high six assists in the win.
 
RMU and Purdue Fort Wayne each pulled down 29 rebounds, while the Colonials forced 16 turnovers by the Mastodons. The Colonials held the lead for over 37 minutes while the Mastodons led for just nearly two minutes in the matchup.
 
SCOUTING NKU
The Norse are coming to Moon Township on a four-game win streak, most recently picking up a 61-49 win over Youngstown State on Thursday night. Maddie Moody led NKU with 17 points and six rebounds, going 6-for-10 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Abby Wolterman notched her third-career double-double and first in 2025-26, picking up 10 points and 11 rebounds while also recording a block and a steal. NKU held Youngstown to just 27.1% shooting from the floor, which marked the lowest opponent field goal percentage by the Norse since December 4, 2022, against the Colonials.
 
Karina Bystry (12.3) and Maddie Moody (10.9) lead the Norse in points per game. As a team, the Norse are averaging 65.6 points while opponents average 70.8. On the glass, Moody leads NKU, averaging 6.6 rebounds per game, while the Norse average 38.1 per game as a team.
 
In his second year at the helm for the Norse, head coach Jeff Hans has led NKU to a 7-11 overall record and a 4-3 record in Horizon League action through 18 games played this season.
 
RMU AND NKU HISTORY
The Colonials are currently on a three-game win streak against NKU, with the Colonials winning the first matchup of the 2025-26 season against the Norse 60-58 at Truist Arena back on Dec. 7. Northern Kentucky leads the series 12-4 over the Colonials. At home against NKU, RMU is 2-5 with the lone two wins at home coming during the 2024-25 season, with RMU beating the Norse 63-59 on Feb. 6, 2025, and 70-57 on Mar. 6, 2025, at the UPMC Events Center.
 
LAST MATCHUP
The pair first met this season at Truist Arena in Highland Heights back on Dec. 7, with the Colonials opening up its Horizon League schedule with a thrilling 60-58 win over the Norse on the road. A pair of Eva Levingston free throws with 33 seconds on the clock gave RMU a five-point lead before a foul by the Colonials put Mya Meredith on the line for three shots. Meredith converted all three shots, making it 60-58, but the Colonials were able to get one more defensive stop with two seconds on the clock to secure the win. Sophomore Myriam Traore scored a career-high and game-high 17 points to lead the Colonials offensively. Aislin Malcolm (13) and Bailey Kuhns (11) were the other Colonials to reach double-digit figures.
