BOSTON – RMU men's hockey defenseman
Dominic Elliott was named Atlantic Hockey America Defenseman of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in his career, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
Elliott played a pivotal role in RMU's weekend series sweep over Canisius, contributing on both sides of the ice in a pair of tightly contested games. In Friday night's series opener, a 1-0 victory, Elliott netted the game's lone goal midway through the second period. He followed that performance on Saturday by blasting a slap shot from the point to tie the game in the first period, helping spark RMU's offensive momentum in the series finale.
In addition to his scoring touch, Elliott anchored the Colonials defensively throughout the weekend. The sophomore blueliner blocked 11 shots across the two games and was a key presence on the penalty kill, helping RMU successfully defend all four Canisius power-play opportunities over the series.
Elliott has been especially productive as of late, recording three goals and seven assists over his last 10 games, averaging a point per contest since the start of the new year.
On the season, the Allendale, Mich. native has totaled five goals and nine assists for 14 points. Over his collegiate career, Elliott has compiled 11 goals, 22 assists, and 33 points in 63 games. He was previously recognized for his impact early in his career, earning AHA All-Rookie Team honors during the 2024-25 season.
With Elliott's selection, RMU has now collected six weekly or monthly conference awards during the 2025-26 campaign. The Colonials' honorees this season include:
Michael Craig – Defenseman of the Month
Tanner Klimpke – Forward of the Week
Dominic Elliott – Defenseman of the Week (2x)
Lucas Massie – Goaltender of the Week
Charlie Schenkel – Rookie of the Week
