MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A program-record 15 members of the RMU women's soccer team are spending their summer competing for semi-professional clubs across North America, continuing their development against elite competition ahead of the 2026 season.
The Colonials are represented across the USL W League, Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL), Ohio Valley Premier League (OWPL) and Northern Ohio Soccer League (NOSL) competition, marking the largest number of RMU student-athletes ever to compete for semi-professional clubs during a single offseason.
"Having 15 players competing at the semi-professional level this summer is a great reflection of the commitment they have to their own development," said RMU head coach
Michelle Rick. "These leagues provide a challenging environment where our players can test themselves against some of the top collegiate and aspiring professional talent in North America. We believe growth happens when you consistently put yourself in competitive environments, and that's exactly what our players are doing this summer. We're excited to see the confidence, experience, and lessons they bring back to Moon Township this fall."
Leading the group is Horizon League First Team selection
Ava Trethewey, who is competing for Brevard Riptide SC in the USL W League. Trethewey enters her senior season after establishing herself as one of the Horizon League's premier attacking players, leading the conference in goals during league play in 2025.
The Colonials have four players competing in the USL W League this summer. Along with Trethewey,
Sydney Chontos is playing for Steel City FC,
Emma Cameron is representing a new club, the Portland Cherry Bombs, and junior transfer
Rosalie Bandura is competing with FC Buffalo.
RMU's largest contingent can be found in the Women's Premier Soccer League, where nine Colonials are suiting up this summer.
Francesca Villa is playing for Internationals SC, incoming freshman
Morgan Gesinski is competing for Beadling SC,
Joey Tomlinson is a member of Hex FC Tempest, sophomore transfer

The Colonials will welcome back a talented roster for the 2026 campaign, including several key returners and an impactful group of newcomers who are already gaining valuable experience through summer competition.
RMU is slated to open the season in August with a schedule that features 10 home matches at the North Athletic Complex and 11 Horizon League contests.
