MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – 13 members of the RMU men's soccer program are spending their summer competing in USL League Two, gaining valuable experience against some of the top collegiate and aspiring professional players in North America ahead of the 2026 season.
USL League Two serves as one of the premier pre-professional soccer leagues in the United States, providing college student-athletes an opportunity to continue their development during the offseason while maintaining NCAA eligibility. The league features more than 140 clubs across the country and has become a proven pathway for players pursuing professional careers.
The Colonials are represented across 10 different clubs this summer, highlighted by three players competing for Pittsburgh-based Steel City FC and a pair of student-athletes suiting up for Riverhounds 2, the newly formed USL League Two affiliate of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds organization.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for our players to continue their growth during the summer months," said RMU head coach
Jonathan Potter. "Playing meaningful matches in a highly competitive environment allows them to sharpen their technical abilities, gain valuable game experience and challenge themselves against quality opposition. We're excited to watch their development and look forward to seeing how these experiences translate when they return to campus for preseason."
Leading the local contingent are goalkeeper
Josh Lane, midfielder
John Krug and defender
Tayshaun Reid, who are competing for Steel City FC in the Great Lakes Division. The trio joins a club that has become one of the region's top developmental programs.
The Colonials also have a pair of players representing the newly formed Riverhounds 2, as
Miguel Dominguez and
Dylan Janoski remain in Pittsburgh to continue their development within the Riverhounds system.
