Earning the Chick-fil-A Robinson RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for April 20, 2022, is senior Dana Vatakis of the softball team. In a three-game sweep of IUPUI last weekend at the North Athletic Complex, Vatakis, a native of Monessen, Pa., earned a win and a save in two appearances in the pitching circle. She pitched eight innings, striking out 10 and allowing just an unearned run on four hits. Vatakis opened the series by pitching six innings in a 3-1 triumph, then came on in relief two days later to record her second save of the 2022 campaign with two scoreless innings to preserve a 1-0 win and help RMU garner the sweep. For her efforts, Vatakis, an early childhood and special education major who has maintained a 3.64 cumulative grade point average (GPA), was tabbed the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week (4/19) for the second time this season. Overall in 2022, Vatakis owns a 6-4 record in 16 appearances, including 11 starts, with a 3.04 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 73.2 innings pitched.
