Earning the final Chick-fil-A Robinson RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2022-23 season is fifth-year pitcher Dana Vatakis of the softball team. She shares the honor with fellow fifth-year student-athlete Tara Gologram of track & field. One of five softball players to be named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® District 2 Team, Vatakis, a native of Monessen, Pa., concluded her career with the Colonials allowing just one earned run in her final five appearances. In 31 innings during that stretch, opponents hit just .187 while striking out 19 times. In the 2023 Horizon League Tournament in Grene Bay, Wisc., last weekend, Vatakis tossed 11.2 innings, not allowing an earned run while striking out eight. Overall during the 2023 season, Vatakis posted a 1.96 earned run average (ERA) while setting down 93 on strikes and leading the Horizon League in saves (3).
