RMU Rolls Over St. Francis (N.Y.), 3-0

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University volleyball team defeated Northeast Conference opponent St. Francis (N.Y.), 3-0 (30-11, 30-17, 30-22) Sunday afternoon at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The Terriers fell to 0-18, 0-5 NEC on the season, while the victory improves the Colonials to 12-14 on the season and 2-2 in conference action.

The Colonials offense was lead by junior middle blocker / outside hitter Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) and senior middle blocker Janette Schneider (Leetsdale, Pa. / Quaker Valley). Wolthuis tallied a match high 12 kills along with four digs and one service ace. Schneider recorded 10 kills on 15 attempts for a .600 hitting percentage and one dig. Junior middle blocker Haley Schroeder (Kenmore, N.Y. / Kenmore West) finished with eight kills, three total blocks and two digs.

Junior setter Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) dished out a match high 25 assists along with four digs, while sophomore setter Melissa Thompson (Marysville, Wash. / Marysville Pilchuck) tallied 12 assists. Thompson also finished with two kills, one service ace and one dig. Sophomore Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) paced the Colonial defense with nine digs.

For the match the Colonials held a large margin in kills, 48-19, and assists, 39-14. RMU finished with a .317 hitting percentage while the Terriers recorded only a .063 hitting percentage.

The Colonials close out the home portion of their schedule next weekend, Nov. 4-5. Central Conn. State comes to the Sewall Center Saturday Nov. 4 for a 1:00 p.m. start. The Colonials then host Quinnipiac on, Senior Day, Sunday Nov. 5 at 1:00 p.m.
