Incoming Freshman Maddie Siphakongviseth Named Gatorade New York Volleyball Player of the Year

CHICAGO – Incoming freshman Maddie Siphakongviseth was named the 2025-26 Gatorade New York Volleyball Player of the Year, Gatorade announced on Friday morning.

Gatorade Player of the Year is the top honor in high school sports, celebrating the nation's best high school athletes for their excellence in sport, academics and community. The award recognizes Siphakongviseth as New York's best high school volleyball player. She joins an elite legacy that spans professional athletes and coaches to CEOs, such as Kerri Walsh Jennings (1995-96, Archbishop Mitty High School, CA), April Ross (1999-00, Newport Harbor High School, CA) and Campbell Flynn (2024-25, Mercy High School, MI).

Siphakongviseth, a 5-foot-4 senior libero, recorded 662 digs on the season, averaging 5.6 per set, and helped lead the Webster Schroeder High Warriors to a 37-4-1 record and a Class AA state championship this past season. Along with her 662 digs, Siphakongviseth recorded 123 assists and 63 service aces to earn herself First Team All-State honors. She was also named Class AA, Division 1 Player of the Year and Libero of the Year.

Outside of volleyball, Siphakongviseth gave back to the community, volunteering locally with multiple youth training programs through her volleyball club, VolleyFX. Siphakongviseth also helped organize the Volley 4 Hearts charity tournament, a tournament that raised over $1,900 for the American Heart Association.

When asked about Siphakongviseth earning Gatorade New York Volleyball Player of the Year, head coach Danny Doherty stated, "Maddie embodies everything this award stands for through her elite level of play, commitment in the classroom, and the character that is shown in all she does. Her leadership, work ethic, and investment in her team and community make her a truly special player and an even better person. As a program, we could not be more excited for Maddie!"

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one state winner from each of the 50 states and Washington D.C., in 12 different sports: football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball, boys and girls soccer, and boys and girls track & field. In total, 610 high school athletes are honored each year. From the pool of state winners, one national winner is selected in each of the 12 sports. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade Player of the Year Selection Committee, which leverages experts, including coaches, scouts, media, and others as sources to help evaluate and determine the winners in each sport.

As part of Gatorade's commitment to breaking down barriers in sport, every Player of the Year also receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner. To date, the Gatorade Player of the Year program has provided more than $6.4 million in grants to winners across more than 2,200 organizations.

Siphakongviseth will attend Robert Morris and play for the Colonials this upcoming fall.
