RMU Falls to Saint Francis (Pa.) in Overtime

Moon Township, Pa. ? The Robert Morris University field hockey team was defeated by Saint Francis (Pa.), 2-1, in overtime Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Colonials fall to 3-13 on the season and 0-6 in Northeast Conference action.

 

Saint Francis broke the 0-0 tie 4:55 into the second half when Annie Paccione scored off a corner, giving the Red Flash a 1-0 lead. RMU's Sam Lawless (St. Louis, Mo. / Lafayette) tied the game up for the Colonials scoring on a breakaway at the 55:45 mark.

 

Neither team could put the game away in regulation, sending the match to overtime. Belen Albanes scored in the 73rd minute giving Saint Francis a, 2-1, victory.

 

Senior Kate Dunlap (Centerport, Pa. / Manheim Central) stopped 16-of-18 shots the Red Flash threw at her, while Sara Dittmann picked up the win. Erin Reifsteck started the game for Saint Francis before being ejected from the game by receiving a red card at the 49:08 mark.

 

The Colonials conclude the 2007 conference portion of their season when they travel to Sacred Heart on Oct. 26. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
