Holy Cross Spoils Spring Break For Women's Lacrosse, Fall 16-3

West Palm Beach, Fla. - Despite the palm trees and beautiful weather, there was no fun in the sun for the Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team as the Colonials were defeated, 16-3, by the Holy Cross Crusaders at the Spring Fling Tournament in West Palm Beach, Fla. this afternoon.

Sophomore Ashley Levering (Glenwood, Md. / Glenelg), Junior Josephine Zizic (Chicago, Ill. / Culver Academy) and Sophomore Jillian Howley (East Northport, N.Y. / Northport) each tallied goals in the loss.

Holy Cross, led by Patrica Sutton and a five-point day, jumped out to a quick, 4-0, on the Colonials (1-3). Levering registered the first Colonial goal of the match, beating senior goalkeeper Megan Orr stick side high at the 23:19 mark of the first half.

The Crusaders went on to add four more goals, extending their grasp over the Colonials, 8-1. Josephine Zizic netted a free-position goal late in the first to bring the score to, 8-2, but it wasn't enough as Holy Cross finished out the stanza with two more strikes.

Jillian Howley notched the only RMU goal in the second half as the Colonials were outscored 6-1 in the final 30 minutes.

Freshman Ashley Walsh (Fairfax Station, Va. / Lake Braddock) and Junior Lauren Hartsfield (Cumming, Ga. / South Forsyth) both saw time in net, as Walsh played 47:13 and made 10 saves while Hartsfield played 12:47 and made three saves.
