College Corner, Ohio / Hueston Woods G.C. - Paced by freshman Ashleigh Frieday's (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) career low round of 80, the Robert Morris University women's golf team finished at the 11-team University of Cincinnati Women's Collegiate Invitational which was shortened to one round due to rain. Detroit-Mercy leds the field with a 313 total while the Colonials carded a 342 total at the par-72, 6,075-yard layout at Hueston Woods Golf Course.
Frieday shot a 41 on the front nine and came home with a 39 to put her in a five-way tie for 10th position. Her previous low round was an 84 which she put up her last time out on the course in the second round of the Butler Spring Invitational.
Cincinnati's Hillery Wilson has a two-stroke lead on the field with a round of one-over par 73. Her team sits in second place afte ra 314 total, one stroke behind Detroit Mercy who lead with a 313. Ball State is third (315) followed by Oakland (326) and IPFW (329).
Robert Morris sophomore Morgan Beikirch (Livonia, N.Y. / Livonia) tied for 37th after a first-round 85 (42-43). Junior Heather Mulvaney (Greenwood, Ind. / Center Grove) is 39th with an 86 (44-42). Sophomore Lauren Lancia (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny) tied for 55th after a 91 (46-45) followed by freshman Jacqueline Jurinko (McKeesport, Pa. / McKeesport) in 57th with a 93 (42-51) and sophomore Melissa Wenger (Middlebury, Ind. / Northridge) in 61st after a 103 (47-56).
