Moon Township, Pa. ? The Robert Morris University field hockey team landed 16 players on the 2007 ZAG/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team, while the team was one of only 43 teams in the nation to have a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Eight seniors Jennifer Charles (Reading, Pa. / Muhlenberg), Gwen Dalphon (Elkton, Md. / Bohemia Manor), Kate Dunlap (Centerport, Pa. / Schuylkill Valley), Jessica Hammaker (Enola, Pa. / East Pennsboro), Megan Kelley (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal), Lori King (Dublin, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne), Shawna Kushner (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) and team manager Marisa Zizzi were all named to the squad the most of any class for RMU.
Three juniors Maddy Carroll (Birdsboro, Pa. / Twin Valley), Mary Kate Egan (Lynch, Md. / Kent County) and Laura White (Pennsauken, N.J. / Collingswood) joined sophomores Jessica Charles (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg), Emily Himmel (Columbus, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne), Kelsey McKeon (Akron, N.Y. / Akron Central) and Stacie Woodle (Boalsburg, Pa. / State College) on the team. The lone freshman on the squad was Catherine Myrick (Twin Valley, Pa. / Twin Valley).
The Colonials, under the direction of first-year head coach Olivia Netzler, finished the 2007 season with an overall record of 3-15 and a 0-7 mark in Northeast Conference action.
