Lee Earns Pair of Honorable Mention All-America Nods

Moon Township, Pa. - Senior guard Tony Lee (Boston, Mass. / Charlestown)  of the Robert Morris University men's basketball team picked up a pair of postseason honors Monday, as he was one of 47 players named to the 2008 Honorable Mention All-America Team by the Associated Press, while he was also named as one of 10 players to the 2008 Mid-Major Honorable Mention All-America Team by CollegeInsider.com.

The 2008 Northeast Conference Player of the Year, Lee averaged 13.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 2.8 steals per game in helping lead the Colonials to an overall record of 26-8 and a spot in the 2008 MasterCard NIT. Lee ranked third for RMU in scoring while pacing the club in rebounds, assists and steals. His per game averages in both assists and steals led the NEC. 

In 2007-08 Lee established a new Robert Morris single-season record for assists with 217, while his 225 rebounds pushed his total to 751, tying the Colonial career record. Former Colonial Anthony Dickens also grabbed 751 caroms from 1985 to 1990. 

Lee also became just the second Colonial in school history to record a triple-double, accomplishing the feat in back-to-back games in February. He is one of just six players in NCAA Division I history to post a triple-double in consecutive games.

Over his four-year career Lee finished with 1,489 points, 751 rebounds, 487 assists and 275 steals. He ranks sixth all-time at Robert Morris in scoring, tied for first in rebounds, second in assists and third in steals.

Led by first-year head coach Mike Rice, Robert Morris posted an overall record of 26-8 in 2007-08 and claimed its first NEC regular-season championship since 1992 thanks to a mark of 16-2 in league play. RMU made its first appearance in the NIT, falling to Syracuse in the first round, and sixth postseason tournament overall. In all the Colonials established 13 school records, including marks for wins (26), consecutive victories (14), league wins (16), road victories (14) and consecutive road wins (10).
