Colonials Bow to Wayne State in CHA Semifinals, 4-0

Niagara University, N.Y. ? The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team closed out the 2007-08 campaign this afternoon, falling to #1 Wayne State, 4-0, in the opening round of the College Hockey America Championship tournament at the Dwyer Arena. The Colonials finish the year with an overall record of 12-22-1.

Wayne State captured the victory when Melissa Boal, the nation's leading scorer, tallied her 35th goal of the season at 19:18 of the first period. The Warriors would go onto add two more in the second period and another in the third.

WSU's Valery Turcotte stopped 15 shots in net to register her 17th victory of the season. Junior Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Ohio / Ohio Flames) suffered the loss in net with 18 saves in 59:53.

Wayne State outshot Robert Morris, 22-15, while holding them 0-for-6 on the power-play. The Warriors were 1-for-2 with the man-advantage.

The Warriors advance to play #2 Mercyhurst in the CHA Championship game on Saturday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m.
