Women's Golf Finishes Third at Holiday Inn Colonial Classic

Coraopolis, Pa. / Montour Heights C.C.-The Robert Morris University women's golf team took third place at the 4th Annual Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Golf Classic held at Montour Heights Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

California University of Pennsylvania took the team title by ten strokes, shooting the lowest total in both rounds. They finished with a 664 total at the 6,110-yard, par 72 layout which played to an average score of 90.3 over two rounds. IUPUI was second with a 674 total followed by Robert Morris (699), Mount St. Mary's (753) and first-year program Niagara (818).

IUPUI's Kristin O'Brien earned medalist honors with consistent rounds of 80-79 for a 159 total. She was one stroke ahead of California's Kim Thomas (83-77=160).

Sophomore Cassie Stein (Lewiston, N.Y. / Nichols School) tied for 12th to lead the RMU contingent. Stein posted rounds of 81 and 90 to finish with a 171 total. Classmate Elizabeth Wenger (Toledo, Ohio / Whitmer) carded a 175 total after scores of 87 and 88 to tie for 14th.

Senior Ashleigh Frieday (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) was one stroke and one place back, totaling a 176 after posting 87 and 89. Freshman Tess Wolfe (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Blackhawk) took 16th by going 87-90=177 and senior Sarah Davis (Wadsworth, Ohio / Wadsworth) was 23rd (101-98=199).

Playing as an individual, senior Jacqueline Jurinko (McKeesport, Pa. / McKeesport) tied for 19th after rounds of 94 on both Monday and Tuesday.
