Box Score Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team hosted Rider University on Friday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium in their final home contest of the 2009 season. Before the game, the four graduating RMU seniors were honored for their dedication to the Colonial program. However the exciting afternoon took a turn as Rider wasted little time getting on the board with two quick goals that carried them to the 4-0 win.
The Broncs scored only six minutes into the contest with a blast from Megan Pisini that put Rider up, 1-0. Two minutes later, the Broncs lead doubled when Margret Ecke netted her first score of the afternoon to extend the RU lead to 2-0.
At the 34:28 mark, Ecke struck again with her fourth goal of the season to send Rider into the half with a three goal advantage.
Rider notched its fourth and final tally when Pisini recorded her second goal of the day on a break-away score at 52:10 of the second half.
Junior Stephanie Seeley (Louisville, Ky. / Ballard) played all 70 minutes in goal and made five saves in the first half, while stopping another 13 shots in the second period. Robert Morris put one shot on goal and had three penalty corner opportunities.
The Colonials, now 2-11 and 1-5-0 in NEC action, will close out the 2009 season on the road against NEC foes, Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart. Robert Morris will play at Quinnipiac Friday, Oct. 30 at 3:00 p.m. and will face Sacred Heart at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1.
