Pittsburgh, Pa. - On Saturday evening, the Robert Morris University women's hockey team came up on the short end of the stick against Syracuse University when they hosted the Orange for the second consecutive night at Clearview Arena.  Once again, the dominant SU offense took a quick lead and never looked back as they downed the Colonials, 4-2.

Syracuse got on the board first at 5:25 when Isabel Menard caused a turnover at center ice and skated down the right side of the rink and fired a cross body shot past Colonial freshman goalie Kristen DiCiocco (Niagara Falls, Ontario/ Stoney Creek Sabers). 

The Orange extended their lead at the 11:51 mark when Julie Rising was able to dig the puck out of the Colonials corner to find Stefanie Marty, who ripped a shot just over the glove of Diciocco.  The Orange outshot the Colonials 11-7 in the first twenty minutes of action.

The second period was a carbon copy of the first with the Orange striking two more times to give them a 4-0 lead.  Julie Rising got it started 17 seconds into the period by receiving a pass from Megan Skelly and wristing a shot stick side.  The Orange continued to pepper Diciocco throughout the period and hit at 18:01 on a power play. Rising and Marty found a wide open Skelly standing on the door step and tipped passed the Colonial goalie.

With the third period barely underway, the Robert Morris offense finally broke through for their first goal of the weekend when Kathryn Stack (Edmonton, Alberta / Edmonton Thunder) and Kelsey Thomas (Hamilton, Ontario / Hamilton Hawks) connected with Kathleen McDonald (Kamloops, BC / Team BC) in front of the Orange net.  McDonald's tally, scored 6:35 into the third, marked her first career goal as a Colonial.

With a sudden burst of momentum, RMU cut the Orange lead down to two as Thomas knocked the puck behind the SU netminder for her second point of the contest.  The assist on the goal was awarded to McDonald at the 11:27 mark of the third period.

The Colonials then continued to swarm the net for the remainder of the contest outshooting the Orange 14-3, but came up empty handed as Syracuse held on to win, 4-2.

Diciocco concluded the night with 25 saves while the Colonials outshot the Orange, 30-29.

The Colonials, now 4-9-1 and 0-3-1 in CHA play, will continue their home stand next weekend as they host Rensselaer for the annual Skate for the Cure series on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27-28.
