Colonials Look Strong in Spring Play

Moon Township, Pa. ? On Sunday, the Robert Morris University field hockey team hosted a spring tournament at Joe Walton Stadium.  The Colonials were victorious on their own playing field as they defeated NEC rival St. Francis (Pa.) in the tournament's championship contest.

Freshman Chantele Crow (Dauphin, Pa. / Central Dauphin) propelled the Colonials to the championship as she led in scoring for the day.

In game one, Robert Morris defeated Slippery Rock 3-1.  The Colonials then followed up the victory by downing Mercyhurst, 3-0.  RMU lost its only match of the afternoon to St. Francis (Pa.), 0-2, before advancing to the semi-final game.

In the semi-final, Robert Morris overpowered Seton Hill for a 2-1 victory.  Finally, the Colonials avenged their loss earlier in the day as they beat St. Francis (Pa.) 1-0 in the championship round.

Robert Morris will continue their spring tournament play on Saturday, April 18, 2009 on the campus of St. Francis (Pa.).
