Davis Scores Twice As RMU Beats Cleveland State, 3-0

Cleveland, Ohio / Krenzler Field - Reigning adidas / Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week Ayana Davis (Mt. Laurel, N.J. / Holy Cross) scored twice while leading the Robert Morris University women's soccer team to a 3-0 win at Cleveland State Friday night. The sophomore now has four goals on the season to lead the team as the Colonials even their season mark to 3-3. The Vikings slip to 1-6 on the year.

Davis got her first marker of the game off of a free kick in the 18th minute. The sophomore, who ran track as a freshman, rose above the defense to head in the long ball played by sophomore Jess Sharik (North Huntington, Pa. / Norwin).

Sophomore Rachel Sebbens (Irwin, Pa. / Greensburg) tallied her third goal of the season in the 76th minute, breaking away from the defense and beating Cleveland State keeper Shannon Saunders in a one-on-one situation. Sharik and Davis then hooked up again the 86th minute, icing the game.

Robert Morris freshman goalie Jessica Olin (New Port Richey, Fla. / River Ridge) made eight saves to record her first collegiate shutout. The Colonials were outshot, 14-10. Saunders had just one save for the host Vikings.

RMU travels to Youngstown State on Sunday, September 20, to take on the Penguins in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
