Teaneck, N.J. / University Stadium—Sophomore goalkeeper
Toba Bolaji (Vaughn, Ontario / Maple) made 17 saves and senior Neil Shaffer
(Aliquippa, Pa. / Beaver) scored his fourth penalty-kick goal of the season as
the Robert Morris University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie at Fairleigh
Dickinson Friday night.
Bolaji's 17 saves are the second most in any Division I
game this season and also the second most in a game in RMU history. Prior to
today, he had never recorded more than 11 saves in a contest.
Shaffer, meanwhile, recorded his sixth marker of the
season, nearly equaling his career total of seven. Four of those goals have
come on a penalty kicks, a RMU record for penalty conversions in a season. His
goal in the fourth minute held for much of the game.
The Knights evened the contest in the 71st
minute when Michael Calderon found the right corner of the net from 20 yards
out.
Neither team would score in the overtime session as
Bolaji turned away five shots during the extra 20 minutes of action. Jacob
Lissek finished with six saves for FDU.
The Colonials travel to Sacred Heart this Sunday, October
17.
