Olin, Davis Honored With adidas / NEC Player of the Week Honors

Moon Township, Pa.-While sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Olin (New Port Richey, Fla. / River Ridge) was keeping opponents off the scoreboard, junior forward Ayana Davis (Mt. Laurel, N.J. / Holy Cross) was lighting it up as the Robert Morris University women's soccer team took two Northeast Conference road wins over the weekend. For their part, Olin was named the adidas / NEC Defensive Player of the Week and Davis earned adidas / NEC Player of the Week honors was RMU improved to 5-6-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference games.

Olin earns her first weekly honor this season while inking a new Colonial record for career shutouts. The keeper recorded the 10th and the 11th clean sheets of her career by blanking Mount St. Mary's and Monmouth this past weekend. Olin rejected 10 shots total, stopping four against the Mountaineers and six versus the Hawks.

In 11 starts this season, Olin has already tacked on four blanks to her team record of seven season shutouts from last year. The sophomore also leads the league in saves (77) and saves per game (6.42).

Davis reversed the Colonials' three-game slide by netting all three of the team's goals to secure two conference victories for Robert Morris this past weekend. The adidas/NEC Player of the Week put the lone point on the board in a 1-0 triumph over the Mount on Friday. The forward gained momentum on Sunday against Monmouth as she touched one in from the top of the box 16 minutes into the first half. Davis provided a cushion later for Colonials, placing the ball in the far corner of the net to hand the Hawks their first home loss of 2010.

The junior now has seven goals in 11 games and ranks fourth all-time at Robert Morris with 16 career goals in 28 games. She tops the league in game winners (4) and owns two of the Colonials top-10 scoring seasons.
