Avon, Ind. / Prestwick Country Club - The Robert Morris University men's golf team took eighth place at the rain-shortened Butler Spring Invitational, posting a team score of 311. Junior C.G. Mercatoris (Brookville, Pa. / Brookville) strecthed his streak of consecutive top-10 finishes to eight events by tying for fourth-place with a one-over par round of 72.
Loyola (Ill.) and Dayton tied for the team title with rounds of 292 on the par-71 course at Prestwick Country Club. Evansville was third (297) followed by Wisconsin-Green Bay (302), Eastern Illinois (303), Valparaiso (307), Butler (310), RMU (311) and IUPUI (312).
Freshman Brock Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) tied for 18th after finishing four strokes over par with a 75. Freshmen Brandon Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) and Donny Lewis (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny) each finished with scores of 82 to tie for 43rd. Junior Shawn Courson (Parker, Pa. / Allegheny-Clarion Valley) tied for 47th (83).
