RMU Field Hockey Releases 2010 Slate

Moon Township, Pa. - On Friday, the Robert Morris University field hockey team announced its schedule for the upcoming 2010 fall season.  The Colonials will play an 18-game schedule and will host six opponents in home contests.

Robert Morris begins its regular season with a pair of road matchups and a neutral site game. The Colonials kick off the year Saturday, Aug. 28, at Colgate before traveling to Ball State on Friday, Sept. 3.  While at Ball State, RMU will also face St. Louis on Sept. 5.

Robert Morris opens home play Friday, Sept. 8, with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Appalachian State in Joe Walton Stadium.  On Sept. 11, the Explorers of LaSalle visit before RMU embarks on a five-game road trip.

In the longest away period of the 2010 slate, the Colonials first travel to Kent, Ohio, for a neutral site contest against Stanford University Monday, Sept. 13.

The Colonials will then visit non-conference opponents Ohio and Georgetown on Sept. 17 and Sept. 21 before starting the NEC portion of their schedule at Lock Haven on Sept. 25.  Closing out the road swing on Sept. 29, Robert Morris will play Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.

Returning home Oct. 10, the Colonials host NEC foe Rider in a 12:30 p.m. start time and continue their homestand Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 12:30 p.m. versus Bellarmine.

The Colonials travel to Loudonville, N.Y., as they return to Northeast Conference play against Siena (Oct. 15) and follow up with Bryant on Oct. 17 in Smithfield, R.I.

The Colonials host Sacred Heart Friday, Oct. 22, and keep the homestand rolling with a tilt against Quinnipiac Sunday, Oct. 24.

Finally, Robert Morris will close out the season with a pair of NEC road games at St. Francis (Pa) on Friday, Oct. 29 and Monmouth on Sunday, Oct. 31.

Led by fourth year head coach, Olivia Netzler, the Colonials will look to improve on their 2009 record of 2-13-0 and make their first ever appearance in the NEC Tournament.
