Colonials Shutout at Niagara, 2-0

Niagara University, N.Y. / Niagara Field - The Robert Morris University women's soccer team gave up two first half goals en route a 2-0 loss to Niagara University on Friday night. The Colonials fall to 2-3-1 overall while the Purple Eagles watch their record improve to 3-1-1.

Jamie Raepple put the hosts up 1-0 in the 28th minute, scoring off an indirect kick. The free kick taken by Chelsea Spencer found Raepple inside the box and she put the ball away for her second marker of the season. Michaela DeFazio pushed the margin to 2-0 in the 36th minute, rifling a shot high into the net from 20 yards out.

Robert Morris sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Olin (New Port Richey, Fla. / River Ridge) finished the game with eight saves. Senior Kathleen Caggiano (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon) and juniors Ayana Davis (Mt. Laurel, N.J. / Holy Cross) and Jess Sharik (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin) each had two shots. Ashleigh Bowers made four saves for the shutout.

The Colonials take on Buffalo this Sunday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m.
