Niagara University, N.Y. / Niagara Field-The Robert Morris Unviersity women's soccer team found itself with a 2-0 lead just 10 minutes into the contest as they rolled to a 3-1 victory over Buffalo Sunday afternoon at Niagara Field. Three different Colonials tallied markers as the team evened its record to 3-3-1 overall. The Bulls slip to 1-5-0 on the year.
Juniors Jess Sharik (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin) and Rachel Sebbens (Irwin, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) hooked up just two-and-a-half minutes into the game to give Robert Morris a 1-0 lead. Sharik's through-ball put Sebbens all alone on the keeper where she coolly beat the Bulls keeper.
Less than seven minutes later, it was Sharik who hit the back of the net. Her effort from 20 yards out found the top corner of net. Senior Jennifer Tobar (Bradenton, Fla. / Lakewood Ranch) provided the assist.
Megan Abman cut the Colonials lead in half with her marker in the 32nd minute, sending the game into the break with RMU leading 2-1.
The margin stayed at one goal until the 86th minute. That's when freshman Katie Austin (Dallastown, Pa. / Dallastown) hit junior Ayana Davis (Mt. Laurel, N.J. / Holy Cross) for her third score of the year.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Olin (New Port Richey, Fla. / River Ridge) stopped five shots in the victory.
The Colonials return to North Athletic Complex by hosting Saint Peter's next Sunday, September 19, at 1:00 p.m.
