Columbiana, Ohio / The Links at Firestone Farms - The Robert Morris University women's golf team opened the season by finishing sixth at the Youngstown State Invitational with a team score of 688.
Bethel College of Indiana took the team title by shooting a 637. Host Youngstown State, led by medalist Kathryn Rogner and her 151 total, finished second at 639. Dayton finished third with a 655 followed by Walsh (664), Cleveland State (667), Robert Morris (688), Mercyhurst (704) and Niagara (777).
Sophomore Jenna Rinker (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock) led the RMU effort by tying for 18th after rounds of 82-86 and a total of 168. Her round of 82 was the lowest for the team at the event.
Junior Elizabeth Wenger (Toledo, Ohio / Whitmer) found six strokes between her first round 89 and finishing 83 to post a 172 total and finish 26th. Sophomore Tess Wolfe (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Blackhawk) was one stroke back, matching Wenger's second round 83 after an opening round of 90.
Freshmen Alee Everman (Dayton, Ohio / Centreville) and Annie Bozich (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) rounded out the team scoring while playing in the first event. Everman tied for 30th (86-89=175) and Bozich was 37th (93-90=183).
