Moon Township, Pa. - The scheduled doubleheader between Youngstown State and the Robert Morris University softball teams was postponed Wednesday afternoon due to unplayable field conditions after heavy rain and hail came through the North Athletic Complex.
There is a possibility that the games will be rescheduled for a date later this season, but it is undetermined at this time. If the squads do meet again this season, they will start a game anew and will not resume play from the point of interruption. Statistics achieved during play Wednesday before play was postponed will not count toward either team's season stats.
Robert Morris is scheduled to be back in action this weekend as it opens Northeast Conference (NEC) competition with a pair of road doubleheaders. The Colonials will take on Monmouth Saturday at 1:00 p.m. before meeting Fairleigh Dickinson Sunday at Noon. The Hawks placed second in the pre-season coaches' poll, one spot ahead of RMU, while the Knights currently have the best non-conference winning percentage in the league at .632.
