Savannah, Ga. / The Club at Savannah Harbor - The Robert Morris University women's golf team opened up the spring schedule with a fifth-place finish at the nine-team Lonnie Barton Invitational at the 5,826-yard, par-72 layout at the Club at Savannah Harbor. Junior Elizabeth Wenger (Toledo, Ohio / Whitmer) paced the Colonial contingent with a seventh place finish.
Towson University, led by Emily Kwak's first-place 152, won the event with a 628 total. Sacred Heart finished second with a 637 followed by host Long Island (652) and Fairfield (654). Robert Morris and Mount St. Mary's (665) were fifth with Boston University (676), Wagner (682) and Monmouth (688) rounding out the team scores.
Wenger secured her first top-10 of the season and fourth of her career on the strength of an opening round five-over par 77. She birdied the par-five fourth hole and the short par-4 10th to put her in a tie for second place after 18 holes. She posted an 80 in the second round to card a 157 total and slip to seventh place in the standings.
Sophomores Jenna Rinker (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock (Clarion)) and Tess Wolfe (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Blackhawk) both tied for 25th. Rinker posted 84-85=169 while Wolfe signed for scores of 83-86 for her 169 total.
Freshmen Annie Bozich (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) and Alee Everman (Dayton, Ohio / Centerville) turned in totals of 173, putting them in ties for 31st. Bozich opened with an 83 before carding a 90 in the second round. Everman turned in rounds of 86 and 87.
