Field Hockey Comes Up Short Against Villanova

Box Score State College, Pa. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team fell in a 3-1 contest to Villanova on Tuesday - just days after the game originally had to be postponed due to Hurricane Irene.

After Villanova took an early 1-0 on a tap-in shot at 8:19, the Colonials (0-2 overall, 0-0 NEC) would even the score later in the first half when senior forward Chantele Crow (Dauphin, Pa. / Central Dauphin) scored the lone goal for the Colonials. Crow tapped in her first goal of the season from the right side of the circle at the 24:07 mark to bring the score to 1-1 - where it would remain heading into the break. Freshman midfielder Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle) assisted on the goal, marking Hartley's first career point as a member of the Robert Morris squad. But Villanova (1-0, 0-0) would tally a pair of second-half goals to secure the win and pick up its first victory of the season.

In net for Robert Morris, freshman Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) played all 70 minutes of action and made a game-highfour saves for the Colonials.

Robert Morris returns to action next weekend with a pair of contests in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The Colonials open the weekend with St. Louis on Saturday before squaring off against Central Michigan in the weekend finale on Sunday. Both games are scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern starts.
