Moon Township, Pa. / Stokes Soccerplex-The
Robert Morris University women's soccer team dropped its Northeast Conference
opener at Saint Francis (Pa.), 1-0, Sunday afternoon. The Colonials slip to
6-4-1 overall after starting the season with the best non-conference record in
team history. The Red Flash improve to 5-4-0 and 1-0 in league play.
The Colonials created more chances throughout the game,
outshooting the host Red Flash, 14-6. RMU, however, was unable to put those
chances on net as Red Flash keeper Brianna Butcher managed to turn aside all
six shots on goal.
After playing a scoreless first half, Stephanie Boulter
scored the game's only marker in the 54th minute. The sophomore
found space inside the right side of the RMU box, then hoisted a shot to the
far corner for the game's only marker.
The Colonials continued to pressure, taking eight second
half shots, but could not find the equalizer.
RMU senior keeper Jessica Olin (New Port Richey, Fla. / River
Ridge) had four stops.
The game also marked the end of an unprecedented
seven-game road trip. The Colonials return home Sunday, Oct. 2, to host Sacred
Heart in an 11:00 a.m. match at North Athletic Complex.
