The Game

The Robert Morris University Colonials (10-10, 4-5 NEC) attempt to snap a four-game home losing streak when they play host to the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds (15-6, 4-5 NEC) in a Northeast Conference game at the Charles L. Sewall Center Monday, January 30. The Colonials received their seventh consecutive double-double from sophomore Artemis Spanou in an eight-point loss to St. Francis (N.Y.) Saturday afternoon. The Blackbirds, who posted non-conference wins over Nevada and Oklahoma State, were upended at Saint Francis (Pa.) Saturday afternoon.

Musket Shots

  • Sophomore F Artemis Spanou has recorded seven consecutive double-doubles and is sixth nationally with 12 of them
  • RMU had season-highs for three-pointers made (10) and attempted (31) against the Terriers
  • Senior C Mary Durojaye has turned into "Monday Night Mary" averaging 20.3 points and 11.0 rebounds in the team's last three Monday night NEC tilts
  • RMU is 85-23 (.787) at the Sewall Center since 2004-05, including 55-12 (.821) in NEC games

Spanou Approaches Rebounding Milestone

Junior forward Artemis Spanou is seven rebounds away from becoming the 18th player in team history from collecting 500 career rebounds. If she achieves the feat Monday, it would be in her 51st game at RMU. Only Sugeiry Monsac (2004-07) did it in less games - 48. Spanou had 287 rebounds in her NEC Rookie of the Year campaign and is averaging a league-best 10.3 boards this season. RMU has had six players in the last six seasons join the program's 500-Rebound Club.

The Series vs. LIU Brooklyn

Robert Morris split last season's series with LIU Brooklyn after winning eight consecutive games in the series dating back to February of 2007. The Colonials lead the all-time series, 35-16, having won nine of the last 10 meetings and 12 of the last 14. RMU is 21-6 all-time against the Blackbirds at the Chuck.

LIU Brooklyn?
