Aislin Malcolm Selected for WBCA "So You Want to Be a Coach" Program

ATLANTA - RMU women's basketball senior guard Aislin Malcolm was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2026 class of the "So You Want to Be a Coach" Program.
 
The WBCA's "So You Want to Be A Coach" program assists female collegiate basketball players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching women's basketball by providing them with professional development and career advancement through education, skills enhancement, networking, and exposure opportunities. The program also increases awareness regarding the availability of talented female basketball players who want to coach.
 
This year's program took place from Wednesday through Friday, April 1-3, during the WBCA Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. To be eligible for the "So" program, one must have exhausted their final year of basketball eligibility at a four-year institution, have graduated within the past year, and must be nominated by their WBCA-member head coach. Each participant is selected based on her academics, contributions to women's basketball on and off the court, professional resume, and a written recommendation from their head coach.
 
ELIGIBILITY
To receive consideration for admission to the program, a nominee must:
 
  • Have exhausted her final year of basketball eligibility at a four-year institution or graduated within the past year;
  • Be a women's basketball player who wants to pursue a career in coaching;
  • Be a credit to the sport of women's basketball both on and off the court;
  • Be nominated by her head coach who must be an active WBCA member;
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  •  2026 program will be held in-person during the WBCA Convention in Phoenix, Arizona — Wednesday, April 1, through Friday, April 3, 2026
  • There will be a nominal tuition component to those student-athletes that are accepted into the program.
 
Malcolm, a senior guard for the Colonials, had an impressive year for the Colonials after transferring from Pitt, culminating the year with being named to the 2026 Horizon All-League Third Team after leading the conference in free throw percentage (.844). Malcolm started in all 30 games for the Colonials this season, averaging 29.6 minutes per game. On the year, Malcolm recorded a team-high 355 points and averaged 11.8 points per game while being second on the team in 3-point field goal percentage (.300). She also finished tied first on the team with 42 3-point baskets made on the season. Malcolm scored in double-digits 19 times this season, including a career high 26 points against UIC in her first-ever appearance in a Colonial uniform, which led to Malcolm being named the Horizon League Player of the Week for that week.
