INDIANAPOLIS – Four members of the RMU women's basketball team earned league honors, the Horizon League announced on Monday afternoon.
The first nod from the Horizon League came when
Aislin Malcolm and
Myriam Traore were named to the
All-League Third Team.
Malcolm, a senior guard from Carnegie, Pennsylvania, was the leading scorer for the Colonials this season, averaging 12.1 points per game. In the regular season, Malcolm scored a team high 350 points while shooting 37.7% from the floor and 30.4% from deep. Malcolm also averaged 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. From the line, Malcolm was elite, shooting 84%, to lead the Horizon League in free throw percentage. Malcolm was ranked 12
th in the conference in scoring.
Traore, a sophomore from Lognes, France, was the team's second-leading scorer behind Malcolm. Traore averaged 11.7 points per game with 340 points in the regular season. On the season, Traore shot 45.5% from the floor and 34.2% from beyond the arc. Traore led the team in field goals made with 126. Along with scoring, Traore was involved on the glass, averaging 5.0 rebounds per game, which was third best on the team. Traore also averaged 1.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game, with Traore finishing fourth in the conference in blocks.
The next Colonial to earn conference honors was junior
Eva Levingston. The 6-0 forward from Oakland, California, was named to the
All-League Defensive Team.
Levingston was a vital part of the Colonials' defense, which ranked fourth in the Horizon League, allowing opponents to average just 60.0 points per game. The Colonials finished first in team defensive rebounds, led by Levingston with 4.3 per game. RMU was also ranked second in the conference in opponent field goal percentage (.369) and opponent 3-point field goal percentage (.286). Levingston led the Colonials on the glass, averaging 6.5 rebounds per game, which was sixth best in the conference, with Levingston pulling down 169 on the season. She also recorded 23 steals and 13 blocks on the season.
The final Colonial to earn recognition from the league was
Bailey Kuhns, who was named a
Sportsmanship Award Finalist.
Kuhns, a senior from Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, is active outside the court, with Kuhns spending her time volunteering at church, student teaching at a local elementary school in a learning support classroom, engaging in professional development for her future in education, attending Athletes in Action, and working as an intramural basketball referee.
