Rinker Wins Colonial Classic Crown In Playoff

Hopewell Township, Pa. / The Club at Shadow Lakes  - Senior Jenna Rinker (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock) won her third collegiate tournament - and her second of the fall season - by leading the Robert Morris University women's golf team to a second-place showing at the 2012 RMU Colonial Classic played at The Club at Shadow Lakes.

Rinker was tied with Siena's Victoria Nguyen after 36 holes as both golfers had 154 totals. It seemed Nguyen had the momentum with a second round 76 compared to Rinker's 79. But the RMU senior needed just one hole, the 380-yard dogleg left par-four first, to win the sudden death playoff. It was Rinker's third tournament title in less than a month after she also took medalist honors at the Youngstown State Invitational.

Behind Rinker's finish, RMU finished second in the team standings with a 654. Siena, with four players in the top-10, was first setting tournament records for single round total (313) and tournament total (637). Youngstown State finished third (656) followed by Niagara (666) and Western (Ontario) (743).

Junior Annie Bozich (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) collected her third career top-10 finishing fifth in the field. She posted an 81 after a first round 80 to finish with a 161 total. Senior Tess Wolfe (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Blackhawk) tied for 13th, improving three strokes to 83 following her first round 86.

Sophomore Sarah Weber (Hudson, Ohio / Hudson) and freshman Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) both shot 84 in the first round. Weber came home in 88 strokes to finish 17th with a 172 while Morell shot an 89 Tuesday, putting her in a tie for 18th with a 173.

Playing as individuals, junior Alee Everman (Dayton, Ohio / Centerville) and freshman Gianna Pro (Harrison City, Pa. / Penn Trafford) finished in a tie for 13th. Both shot 169 totals and both carded 83 in the first round and 86 in the second. Sophomore Tori Zachman (Hampstead, Md. / North Carroll) rounded out the RMU players in 24th place. She shot 89 in both rounds for a 178 total.
