Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's hockey and men's lacrosse teams have done more than grow some additional facial hair in the past few weeks. The two squads have combined to raise $8,660 for cancer research as of the time of this writing through their 'Movember' effort.

Of the nearly 14,000 teams registered with the movember.com website, Bobby Mo Bros--a combination of RMU student-athletes from the two aforementioned teams--ranks among the top one percent nationally in terms of donations raised.

Movember is about having fun growing a mustache but also doing so for a serious cause. In prior years, over one million men from at least 14 different countries have pledged to grow a mustache to promote certain issues pertaining to men's health. These men effectively become walking, talking billboards for the cause and seek to raise funds to fight prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

This year the RMU men's hockey and men's lacrosse teams joined forces and created one team for donation purposes. Dozens of student-athletes on both teams are growing mustaches this month to promote the cause both on and off campus. The Movember organization partners with both the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the LIVESTRONG Foundation in an effort to combat the disease.
