Bolaji Sets Shutout Record In Season Finale Win

Moon Township, Pa. / North Athletic Complex - Robert Morris University senior men's soccer goalkeeper Toba Bolaji (Vaughan, Ontario / Maple) earned his 17th career shutout to become the school's all-time leader with 17 career clean sheets in a 2-0 victory LIU Brooklyn. The win in the regular season finale left the Colonials with a 5-12-2 overall record and a 2-7-1 mark in Northeast Conference games. The Blackbirds slip to 2-14-2 and 1-8-1 in the league.

Bolaji finished with four saves in his final career contest, giving him his fifth shutout of the season. Bolaji surpasses RMU Hall of Famer Doug Petras (1990-93) who backstopped the Colonials to 16 blankings during his career. Bolaji ends his career with the best goals against average in team history at 1.17 and the second best save percentage (.823). His 367 career stops put him fourth all-time.

After a scoreless first half, RMU opened up the scoring in the 52nd minute. Sophomore Jared Latchford (Enola, Pa. / Pennsboro) led freshman Bruce Cullen (Pickering, Ontario / Pine Ridge) into the left corner with a soft ball over the top of the defense. Luca Campos (Monaca, Pa. / Center) chested down the cross from Cullen before planting his first goal of the season into the left corner.

Nifty ballhandling on the left side of the box by Miro Cabrilo (Hamilton, Ontario / Glendale Secondary) led to a left-footed shot that was stopped by LIU keeper Nathan Stockie. The rebound, however, ended up in the center of the 18-yard box where Devon Williams (Kingston, Jamaica / St. Georges) had time to find his spot and put his second goal of the season into the upper right corner in the 81st minute.

Williams nearly put the Colonials ahead early in the first half, but was stopped twice in a span of a minute. On his first attempt, he tried the left side only to have is shot collected by Stockie. His next shot, from the top of the box, was tipped wide of the right post.

LIU Brooklyn's best chance of the game came in the 82nd minute when Jakeem Johnson took a feed behind the RMU defense and beat Bolaji with a chip but not senior Kyle Macaulay (Woodbridge, Ontario / Saint Michael's College) who cleared the ball away just before it crossed the endline.

Robert Morris outshot visiting LIU Brooklyn 15-14 and had four corner kicks to the Blackbirds two. Stockie stopped two shots.
