Friedmann Honored by Atlantic Hockey

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's ice hockey team had a member of its 2012-2013 freshman class honored by the Atlantic Hockey Association for their performance this past week.  Forward David Friedmann (Toronto, Ontario / Toronto Jr. Canadiens) was named the Travel Team USA Rookie of the Week after a two-point performance in the series against Holy Cross this past weekend.

Seeing his first game action since Nov. 2 against Bentley, Friedmann would quickly prove valuable to his team as he netted his third goal of the season in Friday night's victory.  Friedmann would provide the Colonials with their second of four goals in the game as he would sneak a shot through the goaltender from below the circles at an unfavorable angle.

On Saturday, Friedmann would see time on the power play for RMU and would sieze the opportunity to contribute to the offense.  Friedmann would set up defenseman Andrew Blazek for the Colonials' only goal of the game while on the power play.  The contest would end in a 1-1 tie.

Robert Morris will return to action this Saturday as they travel to Columbus, Ohio for its first of five non-conference games as the Colonials take on Ohio State in a home-and-home series.  RMU will then host the Buckeyes at the Island Sports Center on Saturday evening.  Faceoff for both games is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
