Moon Township, Pa.-The Robert Morris
University women's golf team was selected fifth in the Northeast Conference Women's
Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll which was released by the league office Friday
afternoon.
The Colonials roster is highlighted by the play of senior
Elizabeth Wenger (Toledo, Ohio / Whitmer). Wenger has the squad's top scoring
average at 82.1 strokes per round. That includes the lowest round in team
history - a 70 that she posted at the Cleveland State Invitational in September
that spurred her to a ninth-place finish at the event.
Junior Jenna Rinker (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock) had
a fourth-place showing in the six-event fall season while posting an 82.7
scoring average. Rinker accomplished her best finish at the Youngstown State
Invitational with rounds of 80 and 81.
Sophomore Alee Everman (Dayton, Ohio / Centerville)
averaged 83.3 strokes per 18 holes played and played in all but one event in
the fall. Sophomore Annie Bozich (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) had a ninth-place showing at the
RMU Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic during a fall season that
saw her average 86.0 strokes.
Freshman Sarah Weber (Hudson, Ohio / Hudson) played in
every tournament after opening his career by tying for ninth-place at the
Cleveland State Invitational. Weber currently carries an 86.4 average after six
events and 14 rounds.
Sacred Heart picked eight first-place votes to earn the
top spot in the poll. Fairleigh Dickinson was second and was the only other
team to receive first-place votes with three. Saint Francis (Pa.) is third
followed by LIU Brooklyn, Robert Morris, Wagner, Monmouth, Central Connecticut
State and Mount St. Mary's in eighth, St. Francis (N.Y.) and Quinnipiac.
