The Game

The Robert Morris University Colonials (17-11, 11-6 NEC) look to lock up a home game in the 2012 Northeast Conference Basketball Championships Presented by Ruby Tuesday when they take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers (21-7, 14-3 NEC) in a 7:00 p.m. game Monday, February 27, at the Pitt Center in Fairfield, Conn. The Colonials are in the midst of their longest win streak of the season - five games - after knocking Quinnipiac out of first place. First-place Sacred Heart has one four of the last five and is looking to take the NEC regular season championship.

Road Map to A Home Game

The easy way - beat Sacred Heart.

The hard way - a loss to Sacred Heart and the Colonials would need ...

  • Mount St. Mary's to lose at Central Connecticut State
  • Or if Mount St. Mary's beats CCSU, RMU would need Saint Francis (Pa.) to win at Quinnipiac

Musket Shots

  • The Colonials' current five-game win streak is their longest of the season
  • Junior F Artemis Spanou is one of 20 players in Division I averaging a double-double. Nationally, Spanou is third with 18 double-doubles and stands 10th averaging 10.9 rebounds.
  • Junior G Josette Campbell scored a season-high 23 points hitting five treys against Quinnipiac
  • Junior F Anna Gailite has 15 blocks in the last four games and is third all-time at RMU with 105 career blocks.
  • Robert Morris is 96-of-113 (.850) from the charity stripe over the last four games.
  • Junior G Briannica Tye has 145 assists this season, three away from moving into the top-five in single season history.
  • RMU is 87-23 (.791) at the Sewall Center since 2004-05, including 57-12 (.826) in NEC games

The Series vs. Sacred Heart

The Colonials are 7-15 all-time against the Pioneers in a series that dates back February of 2000. Robert Morris is 3-8 at the Pitt Center and 4-6 against the Pioneers at home.

Assault on Single Season Records

Several RMU players are moving up in the single-season records ...

  • Junior Briannica Tye has 145 assists this season, sixth in the RMU record book. She needs three more to move into the top-five.
  • Sophomore Artemis Spanou's 306 rebounds this season are tied for the fifth-most in team history, and is 11 shy of tying Monet Johnson (2008-09) for fourth.
  • Junior Anna Gailite is currently seventh with 35 blocks this season. She needs eight to equal the 43 she posted in 2009-10 and move into fourth.
