Vint Wins Second Rookie of the Month Honor

Moon Township, Pa. - Freshman Rebecca Vint (Caledon, Ontario / Brampton Junior Thunder) of the Robert Morris University women's hockey team collected her program-record 10th honor of the season as she was selected as the College Hockey America (CHA) Rookie of the Month for February in a league release Wednesday.

Vint, who had already broken RMU's record for most in-season awards by a Colonial, was named as the CHA's Rookie of the Week in each of the three weeks that Robert Morris competed in February.

This is Vint's second Rookie of the Month honor of the season as she also earned one in October. It also marks the second straight season in which Robert Morris has earned Rookie of the Month honors for February as Thea Imbrogno (Etobicoke, Ontario / Mississauga Jr. Chiefs) pulled the trick last season.

Vint started the month with an exclamation point, breaking the Colonials' single-season record for points in dramatic fashion as she tallied the game-winning goal to help Robert Morris to a 4-3, come-from-behind victory over Syracuse Feb. 3. The following afternoon she notched a goal and assisted on the game-winning score in another comeback win over the Orange. Vint continued to break school records during the second weekend of the month against Niagara. She collected two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in a victory over the Purple Eagles Feb. 10. Her first score of that game allowed her to break RMU's single-season school record for goals as she notched her sixth multi-goal game of the season. Vint then tallied assists on both RMU goals Feb. 12 at Niagara to take sole possession of Robert Morris' single-season assist record as she became the first Colonial ever to post a 40-point season. She finished the month by registering her 13th multi-point game of the season as she scored and added an assist in a thrilling, come-from-behind tie against nationally-ranked Mercyhurst. She finished the month with 10 points (five goals, five assists) in six games and tallied a +5 plus/minus.

Vint, who reset the Colonials' longest consecutive point streak (12) earlier this season, ranks fourth nationally in points per game among rookies (1.40) and also is tied for third nationally among rookies in goals. She leads the CHA and ranks among the top 10 nationally in overall game-winning goals.

Vint was also selected as one of the final 30 nominees for the 15th annual Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Feb. 20. She was one of just three freshmen nationally to advance to the final 30 student-athletes.

Vint has been tabbed as the CHA Player of the Week on two occasions while also earning six Rookie of the Week accolades.

Robert Morris is set to host Niagara in a CHA Semifinal this Friday, March 2, at 3:45 p.m. The winner of the contest will advance to the championship game, which will be hosted by RMU, Saturday, March 3, at 3:00 p.m.
