RMU Women’s Hockey Meets Lindenwood for Quarterfinal Round

2/20/2026 1:00:00 PM

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team, fresh off an overtime victory over Delaware in the AHA First Round, will take on the No. 3 seeded Lindenwood Lions in the Quarterfinal Round on Saturday, February 21 at 11:45 AM ET in St. Charles, Mo. The game will stream live on FloHockey.

FIRST ROUND RECAP
After falling behind 2-0, the Colonials responded with resilience and offensive firepower to complete the comeback. Alaina Giampietro ignited the rally with a goal assisted by Morgan Giannone and Linnea Misner. Giannone later tied the contest with just over eight minutes remaining in regulation, finishing a play set up by Shayne Desjardins and Kaitlyn Schooley.

In overtime, Jessica MacKinnon delivered the decisive moment on the power play, burying the game-winning goal off assists from Emma Goding and Giampietro to send RMU into the quarterfinals.

The Colonials fired a season-high 50 shots on goal, marking the first time since 2021 they've reached that milestone. RMU's top line accounted for three goals and two assists in the win, while Maggie Hatch earned her second career playoff victory between the pipes, turning aside 19 shots.

POINT STREAKS
Captain Giampietro continues her offensive surge, riding a five-game point streak with five goals and four assists for nine points. Her 39 career goals rank ninth in program history.

Giannone has also found her rhythm, scoring in five consecutive games. During that span, she's totaled eight points with five goals and three assists.

Goding is enjoying a career-best five-game point streak as well, compiling three goals and three assists over that stretch, including the primary assist on the overtime winner against Delaware.

AROUND THE AHA
Giampietro now ranks third in Atlantic Hockey America in goals, while MacKinnon remains tied for first in assists. With her overtime tally, MacKinnon is now tied for the conference lead in points with 40. She also surpassed 500 faceoff wins this season, becoming the only player in the country to reach that mark in 2025-26. Defensively, Desjardins ranks second in the league in blocked shots with 93.

ALL-TIME VS. LINDENWOOD
RMU holds a 39-12-3 all-time record against Lindenwood, including a 17-4-3 mark in St. Charles, Mo. Earlier this season, the Colonials captured five of 12 available points across four meetings with the Lions.

RMU's top line has been productive in the matchup:
  • Giampietro: 3 goals, 3 assists
  • MacKinnon: 2 goals, 3 assists
  • Giannone: 2 goals, 2 assists
From the blue line, Goding (2g-1a) and Misner (3a) have also contributed offensively. Hatch posted a 29-save shutout against the Lions earlier this year.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
Lindenwood enters the quarterfinal round at 13-19-2 overall and 11-12-1 in AHA play, securing the No. 3 seed after winning five of its final seven regular season contests.

Senior forward Molly Henderson leads the team with 16 goals, four game-winners and 30 points. Sophomore defenseman Ellie Muscedere paces the Lions with 15 assists. On the defensive end, graduate student Josey Dunne-Weeks leads Lindenwood with 70 blocked shots and a +11 rating.
