RMU Falls 4-2 at the Hands of Liberty

Lynchburg, Va. The Robert Morris University field hockey team held their ground with Liberty before allowing two goals in the final five minutes to fall 4-2 on Friday afternoon.

Robert Morris (3-5 overall, 0-0 NEC) was outshot in the contest – 15-3 – in the contest, however a first half goal from sophomore Taleah Scott (Crookwell, Australia - Crookwell) put the Colonials on top for the first 25 minutes of the game.  Scott's goal came less than two minutes into the start of the game as she deflected a shot from Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle) past the Liberty goalkeeper.  Before the end of the half, the Flames would tie the game on a similar play.

Liberty would take the lead five minutes into the second half as the shot went past Robert Morris goaltender Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech).  The Colonials would tie the game in the 54th minute as freshman Courtney Schratz (Peters Township, Pa. / Peters Township) netted her third goal of the season off of a pass from Hartley.  The game would remain deadlocked until the 66th minute when the Flames were able to capitalize on a penalty corner to take the lead 3-2.  Another penalty corner for Liberty would result in their fourth goal of the match as time expired.

The Colonials will return to action tomorrow as they play LaSalle in a neutral-site contest in Lynchbug Va.; face-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
