Colorado Springs, Colo. / Cadet Soccer Stadium - The Robert Morris University women's soccer team opened a four-game road
trip with a 3-0 loss at Air Force Friday night. Two Colonials goalkeepers,
freshman Chelsea de Jager (Grimsby, Ontario / Governor Simcoe) and sophomore
Becky Schoenecker (Cheswick, Pa. / Fox Chapel), combined to stop 13 shots as
RMU fell to 0-6-1 on the year. Air Force improves to 3-1-2 with the victory.
de Jager made nine saves while allowing three markers in
just under 69 minutes in net. Schoenecker stopped all four shots she faced over
the final 21 minutes of the contest.
Stephanie Patter tallied a pair of goals in a span of just
3:38 early in the second half. Her first score came off a free kick in the 55th
minute. She then knocked home a cross from Megan Dozier in the 58th minute to
stake the Cadets to a 2-0 lead. Bailee Harnett finished things off in the 62nd
minute with a pinpoint strike from 30 yards out.
Robert Morris managed 10 shots, three coming from senior
Leah Prentice (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard).
Kelly Stambaugh and Becky
Murphy each had one save for Air Force to share the shutout.
The Colonials have a 1:00 meeting with Colorado College
