Robert Morris Colonials (1-1-0) @ Bemidji State Beavers (1-0-1)
Friday, Oct. 11 / Sanford Center - Bemidji, Minn. / 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 12 / Sanford Center - Bemidji, Minn. / 4:00 p.m.

Top Story - Coming off a season opening split with RPI, the Colonials look to come out with a series victory this weekend at Bemidji State. After dropping their season opener, 3-0, on Friday night, RMU answered the bell and picked up their first win of the 2013-14 campaign, 3-2, in overtime. Senior defenseman Kylie St. Louis scored with 1:19 left in the extra period to give freshman goaltender Jessica Dodds her first victory in her first career start.

Series vs. Bemidji State - RMU trails Bemidji State in the all-time series, 1-5-0, with their lone win coming in the 2007-08 season at the Sanford Center. The last time the Colonials played the Beavers was on the last days of 2011, when RMU was swept by the No. 8/10 Bemidji State squad at the RMU Hockey Showcase at the CONSOL Energy Center. The Colonials were tied in the third period in both of those contests, but conceded a late goal to drop the game. RMU's lone win against the Beavers came on Nov. 17, 2007, when Mallory Giambra broke through on a second period power play to give the Colonials a 1-0 victory.

Scouting Bemidji State - Bemidji State comes into this weekend's series at 1-0-1, earning those decisions in late September against College Hockey America (CHA) member Lindenwood. The Beavers freshman goaltender Brittni Mowat was honored with the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Rookie of the Week award after the series with the Lions, as she stopped 45 of 48 shots on the weekend. Two Bemidji State players - Kaitlyn Tougas and Kristine Grenier - tallied multiple points against Lindenwood. The Beavers finished the 2012-13 campaign with a record of 6-26-2 and 5-22-1 in WCHA play. Tougas is the only player of Bemidji State's five leading scorers from last year that returned.

Last Time Out - The Robert Morris University women's hockey team kicked off the 2013-14 season with a series split against RPI.

RMU dropped the first game to the Engineers last Friday night, 3-0. The Colonials managed to outshoot RPI, 25-20, but couldn't push the puck past Kelly O'Brien. RMU killed off six of seven penalties and went 0-6 on their power play opportunities. Junior Rebecca Vint and freshman Brittany led the Colonials in shots with six and four, respecitvely. Junior goaltender Courtney Vinet made her third career start and played the full 60 minutes, stopping 17 of 20 shots on the contest.

Behind a late overtime goal from senior Kylie St. Louis, RMU would take the rubber match with the Engineeers, 3-2. The Colonials would jump out in front early with goals from Howard and senior assistant captain Thea Imbrogno. Howard went topshelf 4:04 into the first period off helpers from fellow freshman Maeve Garvey and senior assistant captain Brandi Pollock, while Imbrogno's strike was on a power play and off a rebound from Vint.

RPI would strike back with two goals in the last 1:04 of the game - both of them coming with an empty net. In overtime, Vint skated around and found St. Louis, and the defenseman rifled a shot from the blue line. It deflected off the cross bar and fell in behind O'Brien, giving RMU their first win of the season.

Successful Debut - Freshman goaltender Jessica Dodds made her collegiate regular season debut in last Saturday's 3-2 overtime victory over RPI.

Dodds earned her first start and didn't disappoint, holding the Engineers scoreless for the first 58:56 before allowing a goal on a 6-on-3 opportunity in the third period. RPI would tie it 39 seconds later by pushing another puck past Dodds, but the freshman didn't let that get to her, as she made a key save in overtime minutes before senior Kylie St. Louis rifled a slapshot from the blue line to give the Colonials the victory.

Dodds made 21 saves on the afternoon, which was the most shots stopped by a RMU goaltender in their collegiate debut since Kristen DiCiocco turned away 25 shots on Oct. 10, 2009 at Northeastern.

The 100 Club - Over the weekend, four RMU seniors donned the Colonial colors for the 100th time, and a fifth senior played in her 100th collegiate game.

Defensive pairing Kylie St. Louis and Anneline Lauziere both played in their 100th game last Friday, in a 3-0 loss to RPI. St. Louis bounced back from the loss with a game-winning overtime goal in the rubber match with the Engineers, while Lauziere was a +2 on the weekend.

Assistant captains Thea Imbrogno and Brandi Pollock suited up for the 100th time in the 3-2 overtime victory against the Engineeers this past Saturday. Imbrogno buried a rebound off a first period power play, while Pollock registered the secondary assist on the first goal of the game.

Captain Kristen Richards also played in her 100th game of her collegiate career, but 66 of those appearances came with Niagara University, which dropped their women's hockey program following the 2011-12 season.
