Preview
The Robert Morris University field hockey team will make their post-season debut in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament this Friday as they travel to Lawrenceville, N.J. to play top-seeded Rider.

Last Meeting
The Colonials opened up their MAAC slate of the schedule with the Broncs on Oct. 13, but couldn't seem to get it going against the preseason favorites, dropping the game by the score of 2-0. Junior goalkeeper Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) stopped seven of nine shots, while Kalyn O'Brien tallied both goals for Rider.

History vs. Rider
RMU is 1-9 overall the Broncs, with their only win coming in 2005. On Sept. 23 of that year, Jessica Hammaker scored the only goal in the 20th minute to give the Colonials their second win of the season and their first in Northeast Conference (NEC) play.

In Case You Missed History
Facing a winner-take-all scenario on Senior Day, Robert Morris jumped out to a four goal lead and then held off a fierce second half comeback by Monmouth to earn a 4-3 victory. Junior midfielder Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle) scored the first goal of the contest 18 seconds into the first half, and then tallied her second 39 seconds into the second half. Freshman forward Harriet Brown (Salisbury, United Kingdom / Canford School) made it 2-0 with her second goal of the year, and junior forward Julianne Alspaugh (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) registered the eventual game-winner less than seven minutes after Hartley's second goal.

Quick Hitters
  • Friday's MAAC semifinal game with Rider will match the conference's two best defensive teams, according to goals against average. The Colonials rank second in the MAAC with a GAA of 1.38, while the Broncs' GAA of 1.25 lead that department.
  • With the win on Sunday, the Colonials improved to 10-7, giving them their first ever double-digit winning season. Their previous best win total came in 2011 when they won eight games.
  • For the first time since Oct. 2, RMU had a student-athlete claim a weekly award from the MAAC. Jamie Hartley was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals against Monmouth, and Harriet Brown was honored with the MAAC Rookie of the Week.
  • The Colonials are in a three-way tie for fourth nationally in shutouts per game with a mark of 0.41. Goalkeepers Erin McKenzie and sophomore Emma Singer (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) have combined to blank seven opponents this season.
  • Freshman forward Chloe McIlwaine (Belfast, Ireland / Northumbria University) and sophomore forward Jess Martin-Brown (Mount Gambier, Australia / University of Adelaide) respectively rank fifth and sixth in the MAAC in goals per game. McIlwaine's nine goals tie a single-season school record with Martin-Brown from a year ago.
