The Capsule

The Robert Morris University women's basketball team puts it's playoff hopes on the line tomorrow, Monday, March 4, at Bryant in a 7:00 p.m. at the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield, R.I. The Colonials need to win and also need Fairleigh Dickinson to lose at Wagner Monday night to secure their ninth consecutive playoff appearance.

The Series

The Colonials are 5-1 all-time against Bryant having won each of the last two games. RMU is perfect, 4-0, in games played at the Sewall Center and have split the two contests at the Chace Athletic Center.

Musket Shots

  • Junior forward Artemis Spanou has recorded 23 consecutive double-doubles and is the all-time leader at RMU with 57
  • Spanou leads the nation in rebounding at 15.5 per game and double-doubles this season with 25
  • Spanou is the first RMU player to record 400 in a season
  • Senior forward Anna Gailite owns the RMU blocks records for a game (9), season (60) and career (168)
  • Robert Morris has made it to the NEC Tournament semifinals in seven of the last eight seasons
  • RMU is 96-27 at the Sewall Center since 2004-05, including 65-15 in NEC games

The Playoff Picture

All but one spot in the eight-team Northeast Conference playoffs have been secured and three teams are vying for that final spot. Robert Morris, Bryant and Fairleigh Dickinson all have a shot at earning the eight seed. The road is easiest for FDU who simply needs to win at home against 12th-place Wagner Monday night to earn the playoff berth. Robert Morris needs a win at Bryant Monday and an FDU loss to get its ninth-consecutive playoff seeding. A Bryant win against RMU combined with a loss by Fairleigh Dickinson would put Bryant into the post-season.
