Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team was honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as one of the 70 institutions to receive the National Academic Team Award by achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. The Colonials posted a cumulative GPA of 3.40 during that time, placing them just off the pace of the top-five teams.
A total of fifteen student-athletes from the squad were named to the 2012 Northeast Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. Of those fifteen players, five of them were named to the 2012 NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll as well.
Of the five student-athletes named to the Comissioner's Honor Roll, freshman Cami Mullins (Columbus, Ohio) is the only Colonial to maintain a 4.00. Also joining Mullins on the Honor Roll was Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia) with a 3.91 cumulative GPA and Michelle Lewthwaite (Macarthur, Australia) who holds a 3.85 cululative GPA. Rounding out the five members are two freshmen, Sophie Watt (Sawtell, Australia) and Nicole Mackin (Louisville, Ky.), who each posted a GPA of at least 3.80 in their first semester at Robert Morris.
